ALISON M. CARR

Alison M. Carr is a Divorce and Family Law Associate at Cooley & Handy. She focuses her practice in Pennsylvania family law, including divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, child custody and child support. Ms. Carr is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, including the Family Law and Young Lawyers Divisions.

Ms. Carr is known for her detailed analytical skills and her tough no-nonsense approach to family law cases. She approaches her cases in a practical manner and seeks fair compromises where appropriate, allowing her to maintain an excellent reputation among other members of the family law bar.

Ms. Carr is also committed to providing pro bono representation to indigent members of the community and volunteers representing both plaintiffs and defendants in Protection from Abuse (PFA) matters in Bucks County.

Prior to joining Cooley & Handy, Ms. Carr worked as an associate at a Delaware County firm practicing in the areas of family law, personal injury, workers compensation, and criminal defense.

Ms. Carr is a graduate of Temple University, Beasley School of Law. During law school, Ms. Carr clerked for the Honorable Jack A. Panella, of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. She also participated in the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office Prosecutors Clinical Program where she represented the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in a variety of criminal matters ranging from misdemeanors to first-grade felonies. Ms. Carr also served as senator and vice president of the Temple Law Student Bar Association, student mentor/member of the Women’s Law Caucus, and volunteer for the Law & Education Program, which educates middle and high school students about the law and citizenship.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Carr graduated from the Pennsylvania State University where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Forensic Biology with a minor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in three years. She was an active member of the National Honor Society and participated in THON each year. During college, Ms. Carr also worked for the Special Victim’s Unit and Child Advocacy Center of the Queens, NY District Attorney’s Office where she interacted with law enforcement and children and families of domestic abuse.

In her free time, Ms. Carr enjoys swimming, running, playing piano and attending concerts. As part of a long line of Penn State alumni, Ms. Carr loves spending time in Happy Valley visiting family and friends, and cheering on the Nittany Lions.
